Set New Hires Up For Success with an Employee Training Program

In the mid 90s, after a decade of organic growth, Zingerman’s needed to more formally develop its employee training program. Enter Maggie Bayless, ZingTrain’s Founding Partner. Her expertise in both waitressing and training and instructional design was the perfect blend for the job. She observed and developed effective training methods for the growing Zingerman’s Community of Businesses. 

This employee training program is now trademarked as Bottom-Line Training®. It consists of two training tools that remain the foundation of our employee training to this day: The Training Compact and the 4 Training Plan Questions. Used together, this method of training is simple, effective, and focused on clear job expectations, all tied to an organization’s bottom lines. It structures training around the needs of the trainee and treats them as an equal partner in the training process.

For almost 30 years, we’ve taught our method to hundreds – if not thousands – of other organizations. We have seen its positive impact on new hires, hiring managers, trainers, and all staff. Beyond a new employee’s experience, this training method can be be adapted for managers, training tune-ups, and ongoing staff development.
