Coming to Ann Arbor
They call Zingerman’s an “Ann Arbor institution.” Although we’re slightly smaller in every dimension than that “other” Ann Arbor institution, the University of Michigan, we find the moniker quite flattering. We’ve been in this little city for over 40 years and we think it’s such a cool place that it’s written into our vision that we never want to leave.
About our Seminars
- Seminars are from 8:30am to 4:00pm. We’ll serve you breakfast and lunch each day. Breakfast is served starting at 8:00am and you can nosh on it right up to our first break around 10:00am. Lunch is served from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Seminars end at 4:00pm sharp.
- We’re pretty casual folk, so feel free to dress casually if you’d like. Jeans, shorts, tank tops – it’s all good. Of course, suits and ties are groovy too! One thing we have learned from so many years of running seminars is that it’s impossible to set the temperature in the room to be right for everyone. If you’re sensitive to that kind of thing, we suggest dressing in layers.
Coming to Zingerman's
Zingerman’s Deli is in downtown Ann Arbor. If you want to hang out for an evening, walk around, window shop, grab a coffee, cocktail or digestif, downtown Ann Arbor is where you want to be. It’s spread out over 20 blocks or so and there isn’t really any other part of the town where you can quite do that.
While it is theoretically possible to get from the Deli or the Roadhouse to Zingerman’s Southside by public transportation, it’s not the most time efficient way to do it. For those of you from cities far bigger and crowded than ours, we, too, have Uber and Lyft and you’ll find that their rates are quite reasonably priced and that most of the drivers are quite polite.
The closest large airport is Detroit Metro (DTW). It’ll cost you anywhere from $50-$70 to get there via cab or your favorite ride share service from downtown Ann Arbor. If you’re planning on flying out on the day the seminar ends, we think it’s best to give yourself about 3 hours to departure time. Our seminars end at 4:00pm, so the earliest flight out that we recommend is 7:00pm.
A Note About Our Facilities
ZingTrain is a single-story facility with no stairs. We have a wheelchair-accessible ramp at the end of the lot outside our front door. Our back door is on the ground level. We are happy to make special parking arrangements at our back door.
We have both multi-stall, gendered bathrooms and non-gendered, single-stall restrooms.
We can accommodate many dietary preferences – including kosher and halal – so don’t hesitate to let us know what you need. In fact, we’re so eager to get you the kind of food you want, it’s a question on the pre-seminar survey we send you!
There’s always food tastings, classes, promotions and interesting stuff going on at Zingerman’s. We take our fun seriously (!) and it’s a rare week that we don’t have some event or the other that’s worth checking out. Check out our upcoming tastings at the Delicatessen, special events at the Roadhouse, and hands-on classes at BAKE!

There’s a cluster of hotels about a mile or so from the seminar location on Zingerman’s Southside. While that seems eminently walkable, we feel compelled to warn you that it will not be the most picturesque walk you’ve ever taken.
